Cattle Grid Restoration
The DTMS team have been repairing dangerous cattle grids for Ringway on the North Yorkshire Highways.
The danger occurs when the steel girder that the cattle grid is fastened to becomes loose, causing gaps to appear between the grids. This can be a serious risk to cyclists.
We remove the cattle grid and clean out the concrete pit. Using a specialist resin, we re-secure the girder, which the cattle grid sits on, back into place. All the clamps holding the cattle grid down are replaced and the grids are butted tightly back together. We then weld a plate around the outside. This stops the grid coming apart and remove any remaining gaps around the outside.
The result is a secure, safe, rattle free cattle grid which will last for many years to come.
