Cutting back – A1 vegetation clearance
We have been carrying out tree and shrub maintenance on the
A1 Darrington to Dishforth as part of the Highways operators 5 year Landscape
and ecological strategy.
The works involved the cutting back of encroaching trees,
shrubs and scrub to maintain a 4 metre clearance from the motorway edge
wherever possible. Thinning
out of existing tree plantations, removal of dead/dangerous trees and clearance
of Buddleia on the motorway cutting walls.
The works were completed on schedule before the start of the
bird nesting season at the beginning of March.
