As part of Yorkshire Waters commitment to the improvement of biodiversity on moorland within the Peak District National Park and the South Pennines, this project was awarded to DTMS Group.

Rhododendron is an invasive species, and had become prevalent at Walshaw Dean Reservoir.  The objective was to reduce its prevalence through removal and treatment and therefore improve biodiversity within the SSSI.

There were significant challenges to be faced in the safe execution of this contract, such as access, steep reservoir banking’s and Pennine Way users.

However, with use of the experience, qualifications and specialist equipment at DTMS, phase 1 was completed successfully, before bird nesting season.
